Red Velvet Grand Opening

rva1
The sun was setting when I arrived at around 5:30 (hellloooo Winter!) and the light was beautiful.

I worked on this rainbow stripe dress a couple days ago, so in love with it.

Balloons coming out of a dollhouse? Yes, please. I think this should be a regular staple in the store decor.

rva7
Obsessed with the wedding section, which is still in its early stages.

rva8
This one's my favorite. Not that I have any use for it. ;)

Yes, these are as fun to use as they are to look at. I have a new dress! I will share it as soon as I let out the waist a little bit. Eep.

So sweet. (and salted caramel cupcakes? mmmm)

I am so proud of those girls (and boys!), it's really a dream. I don't usually feel comfortable in vintage stores, but the atmosphere is just incredible. It kind of makes you wish you could grab your sleeping bag and spend the night. Here's to a successful grand opening, and an even more successful future!

could you use a sneak peek?

I have been working my fingers to the bone this week, hence my absence. And now I am quite proud to be able to show you some peeks at what I was working on!

Gorgeous, right? And how adorable are those tags that Elsie gocco'd? I'm in love.

The update will be soon, tentatively tonight...but either way, keep an eye on A Beautiful Mess for more.

Elsie and I had so much fun working together on these (she has the most amazing inspiration, designs, and vintage fabric of anyone I've met...I'm constantly honored to bring her ideas to life with my sewing)...I hope you love them too. :)

mini diy: ruffle frame

A few days ago, Elsie gave me this sweet little painting from her recent black & white series...

I loved it instantly (it kind of reminds me of this picture of mine!), but I was afraid it wouldn't stand out from our stark white walls.

So, I cut some pretty fabric into a thin strip--this piece is actually from a dress I hemmed for Elsie's shop, so it's extra special--and ruffled it by hand while making a long machine stitch down the center...

Then, I just used a thin line of all-purpose, washable glue (I wanted to be able to remove it later if I needed to, and not compromise the artwork) on the back edge of the canvas, and attached the ruffle! Instant frame, instant cute.

It looks so good above my desk in between these two vintage silk dresses.

Love! Thank you, Elsie! xoxo

wholly craft! it IS spring!

Okay, so, it's probably safe now to mention that for the past couple weeks I have been working on a super special secret project that I loved....RVA's Spring clothing line! (ps if you're visiting from Elsie's blog, hiiii! come on in!)

I was thrilled to be working on such cute stuff. I more or less just consider myself the girl behind the sewing machine, but working with Elsie is so so fun, she really let me experiment and incorporate my ideas in to several of the pieces. I'm so anxious to see the collection released on RVA next week, I hope you are too!

So, what's next?

Oh only Springfield's first ever (that I know of) indie craft show, being put on by two of my favorite ladies, and being hosted by my favorite indie theater!

It's a ways off, but I'm known to let time catch up with me. Work starts tomorrow (once I get the Bernina set up!) for the show. It's going to be gooooood!
