Bravo: artsy fartsy

New crush:

Miles from Bravo's Work of Art.

Um.
Drool.
(okay you may doubt me, but he is much cuter...and more brooding, on the show!)
He is definitely the type of Art Boy that distracted me in my college classes. They were a bit few and far between at Missouri State unfortunately, but still oh so sweet.

As far as the show goes...well. I was skeptical, the intro section made it feel like 2-D Design first day of Freshman year, ya know? Then the art got good(er) ((what?! I wasn't an English major)), and I got into it. It was interesting seeing process happening in such a short amount of time, in a clean foreign environment.

Of course, way over-edited, what else would you expect from Bravo? And for anyone who watched the first episode--wow did they skirt the issue of "Powerful Pussy" or what?? How was it not at all shown or discussed (or burned)?

The critique section made me super uncomfortable. After all those years having them, I'm still not sure my stance on crits. Necessary evil.

I think the show is bound to get mildly interesting, if it doesn't cause traumatizing flashbacks first. We'll probably be canceling our t.v. package before too long though, so I'll have to watch the remainder of the series online eventually. In other words, don't spoiler me!

first wholly craft: complete

First and last, unfortunately. Wholly Craft! of Columbus, OH sent us a cease and desist order for future shows, apparently we were tarnishing their good name. ;) Besides that itsy bitsy snafu, we all had a great time visiting with the super nice people of Springfield, and sharing our wares. So, it's not that it won't happen again, it will just be happening under a much different name!

Here was my table...

New friend Rowena and her beautiful brooches made from Spoonflower fabrics she designed herself. So cool! I was happy to see the quality of the fabric up close finally, it's gorgeous.

My friends Jenna and Ellen, hmm hopefully one of them will have a blog or etsy I can link to soon. I was kind of drooling over Ellen's Liberty of London fabrics, haha!

oh what a beautiful...

...craft show day!
Well, here's hoping. So far, I love today. Woke up early, had a great shower (I love changing up shampoo, don't you? new smells are so exciting!), ate eggs and toast on my back porch, vowed to finish my new business card layout before noon, and then magically did!

newbusinesscard

What do you think? The ones I'm printing out at home on cardstock are looking pretty weak, but I'm hoping it's just my cheap printer. I'll use these for the show today and tomorrow, and then get some real cards ordered online. [Psst, if you get a card from me at the show, remember, it's just a prototype! Email me with your address and I will totally mail you a "real" replacement once I get them!]

Any changes you would suggest? Of course I have it saved as a photoshop file so any minor tweaks would be easy. Unless your suggestion is "change everything" and in that case...keep it to yourself! Hah!

Left to do today:
cut out cards
finish sewing (eep!)
finish pricing/tagging
pretty myself up
help set up at the Moxie
set up my own stuff

Whewwww. xoxo

yikes!

Hi! I haven't been by in a while. I'm bad, bad, bad!

So many wonderful things have been happening in the meantime. I spent a couple days back at my old job helping out, which was a nice change of pace, and I loved seeing my coworkers and customers again. :) Then, my very best bestest friend from high school texted me Monday night to say he'd be driving through my town on his epic road trip Tuesday morning! We had super-early breakfast and then he crashed at my house (after being up for 23 hours!) while I went to work for the day. Then we spent the evening catching up, listening to Mark's band practice, and having some pizza and drinks on my back porch before he had to head off again. What a perfect day.

Now I'm pretty frantically trying to get ready for the craft show tomorrow!

Facebook event.
Website.

If you are in the area I would love if you'd come visit! You don't have to buy anything, you should at least check out a screening of Handmade Nation, ya know? ;)

Oh, and totally doofy picture of me, but...new favorite dress!!

Haven't had one of those for a little while.

long weekend thrifting

Saturday through Tuesday I went down to Arkansas to visit my mom. I'll have more on that later when my film is developed and I have a moments rest from moving out of the loft.

For now, some goodies I picked up along the way...

DSC_5491
I seriously think Kaylah and I might have telepathic thrifting powers.

DSC_5492
These were all from the antique mall I frequented when I lived back home. It still smelled the same <3 and everything was wayyyyy overpriced! I found the dirty little Cake for a dollar though. The clock is going up in the kitchen, sooo cute!

DSC_5495
Another favorite place, right outside of town. Reasonably priced Pyrex :) hooray.

DSC_5496
Radical "lace-ups" for a dollar, and a place to put our mail...we're really bad about giving each other our mail, eeps.

Okay, off to Lowes with my man to get more moving boxes!! xoxo
